They are the first state in the U.S. to do this.<\/p>\n<p>Missouri&#8217;s Department of Natural Resources decided to make it easier for citizens to find out what&#8217;s in their water. The water quality report is sent to homes on paper annually, but now people will be able to find it at any time of year.<\/p>\n<p>A water quality report provides a great deal of information. It includes the source of the drinking water, a short summary of the vulnerability of the water source to contaminants (and where to find more information), the levels of contaminants found in the drinking water and their possible sources, and the potential health effects of those contaminants.<\/p>\n<p>Missouri also releases online a list of <a title=\"Missouri Drinking Water Systems Fail to Test\" href=\"http:\/\/bluelivingideas.com\/2011\/12\/06\/missouri-drinking-water-systems-fail-to-test\/\">public water systems that have drinking water violations<\/a>. Now citizens can find out exactly how their water systems are underperforming and take action at city council meetings.
