Science Magazine sponsors live chats on important scientific topics and this week the topic is “Saving the Earth’s Water Supply”.
As regular readers of this blog know, only one percent of Earth’s water is available fresh water. Much of that is polluted and even once our utilities clean the water, much of it is wasted.
Guests this week are Emily Bernhardt and David Cwiertny. Emily Bernhardt is a biogeochemist and associate professor in the Department of Biology at Duke University. Her research looks at ways humans change and manage watersheds impacts aquatic ecosystems. David Cwiertny is a professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Iowa and a member of the Water Sustainability Initiative.
The live chat starts at 3 p.m. Eastern time on Thursday, October 17, 2013. Arrive at the web page on the Science Magazine site a few minutes ahead of time. The chat box for Saving the Earth’s Water Supply will appear when the live chat is ready.
Before then, they are taking questions for the chat on the page. Put your questions in the comments and read the questions others have already submitted.
