I believe you are mistaken as to the number of "legally" poached whales brought to Japanese market each year. The Japanese have a self imposed annual cap of 935 (850+/- 10%) Minke and 50 Fin whales for "research" purposes. This guise allows the Japanese to process the whale meat right on the boat and bring it straight to market. In 2007 alone, 872 minke whales where killed for "research" purposes.

Luckily for us who love and appreciate the environment, there are others that are not afraid to stand up for these beautiful creatures. One such entity is called Sea Shepherd headed by Capt. Paul Watson. For all readers, please take the time to watch their show 'Whale Wars' on Animal Planet to get a true sense of the massacre that occurs every day. If you are truly moved by their cause, please don't hesitate to support them with donations.

They don't call it hunting or whaling because Japan is already on a watch list for over hunting and will suffer serious penalties and embargos if they hunt, instead they get around by using science vessels - which are just fishing vessels painted with a sign that says science vessel (seriously).

By doing that they're allowed to get around the law, since there's no apparent law forbidding or limiting capturing whales for scientific testing and torture.

It hurts and infuriates me each time I see/read about the brutalities man commits to our next of kin. Regretably, we live in a world where non-human animals are regarded as objects for our profit, exploitation and entertainment.

The supremist and patriarchial doctrines are destroying the living systems that sustain ALL life and the amazing creatures who share Earth with us.

We abuse, oppress, torture, massacre, and obliterate these innocent creatures who have as much right to live a life of freedom as we do.

To all the anmal abusers, and those who engage and profit in these evil and greedy industries torturing, exploiting and killing our next of kin, I wish you experience the agony and suffering you inflict upon the most innocent. It's called Karma!
