GreenTalk Radio host Sean Daily talks with Wayne Ferreira of EcoloBlue about water extracting from air. Wayne started his career as a professional tennis player at the young age of 18. While on the pro tennis circuit, the he had more on his mind than tennis which serendipitously lead to his next career. He became acutely aware of serious water issues regardless of the country in which he was playing. Water supplies were threatened and pollution was posing a serious health threat for millions upon millions.

Atrazine in Tap Water Chemically Castrates Frogs

Atrazine is a common herbicide used in agriculture around the world for 50 years. The National Resource Defense Council (NRDC) found atrazine present in “75 percent of stream water and about 40 percent of all groundwater samples,” as well as 90 percent of tap water sampled. Recent research conducted at the University of California at Berkeley has found atrazine actually “castrates” frogs at amounts similar to those found in tap water and considered safe by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Analysis Finds Hundreds of Pollutants in U.S. Tap Water

An analysis of 20 million tap water quality tests (from water utilities) over the last five years in the U.S. was undertaken by Environmental Working Group (EWG), and found 316 contaminants in water provided for public consumption. Of those contaminants, only 114 of them have enforceable standards from the Environmental Protection Agency EPA).

Will Yemen’s Capital Run Out of Water Growing a Drug?

Where once there were 180 wells, now there are 80…What if an entire CITY ran out of drinking water? Sanaa, Yemen, the country’s capital, is dealing with a massive water shortage. The World Bank’s Sanaa Water Basin Management Project says the city could run out of drinking water in just 15 years. Some say a major culprit is qat, a plant deeply embedded in Yemen’s culture and chewed for its stimulant effect by up to 70% of the male population.
