Attempts to legislate against sea level rise in North Carolina and Virginia may work out worse than expected. Pretending the sea level isn’t changing very fast – and zoning development accordingly – works out well for land developers who won’t have to deal with the fallout when the sea moves in. But it looks like sea level rise is happening faster along the US Atlantic coast than most people expected.
