High tunnels look like those small hoophouses that gardeners use in their backyards to protect crops from the extremes of weather. On larger farms, the hoophouses just get larger, too.
A half-inch of rain will produce approximately nine hundred gallons of water from a 30′ by 96′ high tunnel, making it well worth the effort and expense to install this system.
